    Craft/Service Guild
    • Did you know: St Matthew has a Craft Group which meets every other month!

      A short history:
We started out making dresses and shorts for our Haiti folks. We then made pillows for the cancer center, as well as pillow cases that children in our Religious Education program received at Christmas, along with stuffed animal. Some members make prayer shawls/blankets to give out to out sick and hospilized members.

However, our main project is our Christmas stockings that we give out to the military members and families during the holiday season. We give also to the Wounded Warriors at the Shepherd Center and our local Tyrone fire and police departments. These stockings have increased from the first production of 250 to 850 in the last two years and we believe more can be made!

We could use extra hands to cut, sew. Come join this group of ladies and have some fun!

We could take on any new projects if you have any suggestions. If interested, please contact Amy Anderson at 413-531-9092 or [email protected].

    Cub Scouts
    • Goals & Purpose: The Cub Scout program is a fun and educational experience that instills values. Besides providing a positive place where children can enjoy safe, wholesome activities, Cub Scouting focuses on building character, improving physical fitness, teaching practical skills, and developing a spirit of community service.

Responsibilities: We are an organization based on adult volunteers. Those 18 yrs old and older, parents and grandparents are welcome to join leadership roles.

Meeting Times & Time Commitment: Pack 373 meets once a month, usually Saturday or Sunday. Time varies depending on the activity. Individual dens have 1 to 2 den meetings each month. Date and time vary depending on den leader’s schedule. Be prepared to meet at least 3 times a month.

Cub Scout Requirement: Children in Kindergarten through 5th grades, or 5 to 10 years old.

Leader Training Requirement: For more information about training requirements, please contact the Leader.

    Knights of Columbus
    • Goals & Purpose: The K of C is a worldwide Catholic fraternal men’s organization comprised of 14,000 Councils and close to 1.9 million members. The principles of the Order are: Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. Our purpose is to support our pastor, various parish ministries, the surrounding community and other worthy global outreach programs.

Responsibilities: We provide assistance for Church events, such as the Church Picnic, Fall Festival, Haiti Fundraiser, help with facility maintenance, etc. Our first principle is Charity; in order to financially support worthy charitable causes, we conduct fundraisers such as Pancake Breakfasts, Lenten Fish Frys, Keep Christ in Christmas Cards, Fudge Sales, Derby Day, St. Patrick’s Day Party, etc.

Time Commitment: There is no set amount of time required, however, more involvement leads to greater personal satisfaction knowing your efforts are helping our parish and those in need. Our monthly Business Meeting is held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month; a social “get-together” is held on the 4th Tuesday of the month. We ask all Knights to help out and participate in our fundraising events.

Training Requirement: The K of C is open to men at least 18 years of age who are practicing Catholics in union with the Holy See. Anyone interested in joining can approach any Knight or contact the leader.
