Next weekend, May 14 and 15, St. Vincent de Paul will be having a food drive. We will be collecting food at all of the Masses. The food pantry particularly needs the following items: canned soup, canned fruit, Hamburger Helper or similar items, cereals, diapers (both infants and adults), feminine hygiene products. Of course, we and they will be grateful for any other unexpired food stables. Thank you, parish family, for all you do for our neighbors in need.
NOONAN SCHOLARSHIP If you are a graduating high school senior, and would like to receive the Noonan scholarship offered by St. Matthew , please write a letter or email addressed to Fr. Kevin. The Letter must contain the name of the high school you currently attend, that you are a supporting member of this parish, a promise to continue an education beyond high school within the next six months, mention of the school or program you are planning to attend, and your full name, address and telephone number. The letter must be received by the church office by Sunday, June 12th. Scholarships winners will be announced at the 11am Mass on June 19th. Atlanta Transit Angels Packing Party - We will be collecting donations of snack and hygiene items in order to assemble kits for Atlanta Transit Angels, a volunteer organization that provides hospitality and comfort to legal asylum seekers traveling through one of Atlanta's many bus stations. Our packing party will be held at the end of May, and our goal is to collect enough donations to assemble 800 kits. St. Matthew parishioners have a pilgrimage scheduled to go to EWTN (Mother Angelica's Eternal Word Television Network) and the Shrine of Our Lady of the Angels in Hanceville, Alabama, May 3-5, 2022. Married couples and individuals are welcome. The cost is approximately $150.00 per person for a shared room for both nights. All meals, except the catered lunch, are paid as you go. Men, do you need a break from the constant demands on your time? Gather with us Saturday, March 26. from 8:30-3:30 at Saint Matthew Parish to reflect and connect with other men seeking answers along their spiritual path. Set aside the day to take a break from your day-to-day cares and be closer to your God. The cost will be $25 to pay for the retreat leader and lunch and it is open to all men of the parish. We are hosting two listening sessions for the 2021-2023 Synod here at St. Matthew. This is an opportunity for all parishioners to voice what the Holy Spirit is doing in our community. The main topic of the session is: How is our parish/community “journeying together”? There will be a session in Spanish on Monday, February 21 at 7pm and a session in English on Monday, February 28 at 7pm.
"Words of Encouragement" Prison ministry members will be in the church narthex before and after masses on the weekends of February 12-13 and February 19-20! SVDP Food Drive St. Vincent de Paul will sponsor a food drive on February 5& 6 to help restock the Palmetto Baptist Church Food Pantry. Knights of Columbus Council 8972 invites Catholic men to a special “Holy Hour for Life” with a Rosary and Eucharistic Adoration on Tuesday, Jan 25, from 6:30-7:30 PM. All men are welcome to participate in this event. It is a simple and meaningful way to delve deeper into one’s spiritual life and engage in a personal encounter with God. In keeping with the fraternal nature of the Knights of Columbus, light refreshments will be provided in the parish meeting room after the Holy Hour.
