Family Faith Formation Classes (Grades K-5)
At St. Matthew, we believe that "parents are the first and foremost educators of their children [who] educate or catechize informally, but powerfully by example and instruction" (National Cat
echetical Dictionary). For this reason our Family Faith Formation (FFF) Program for Elementary students, requires that parents and students attend classes. Parents are required to attend class once a month and students attend class every Sunday as stated in the calendar.
The Faith Formation years of a child in the Elementary grades are the foundation of our faith. It is in these years that they will receive two (2) of the Sacraments of Initiation, First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. It is in these years that they will learn to live their faith by following the example of their parents. For this reason we stress the importance of attending Faith Formation classes every year. The program will assist and support your faith life at home and will also prepare the children to continue their journey into the Middle and High School years, and long into their adult life.
