    FORMING THE FAITH
    • "...may the prayer of the Church, the prayer of families as "domestic churches", constantly rise up!"

      Saint Pope John Paul II

    • Faith Formation at St. Matthew

We at St. Matthews are committed to ongoing growth and conversion on the lifelong journey of faith. Whether it is for children or adults, for those born and raised Catholic, or those seeking Baptism, the goal of all faith formation is communion and intimacy with Christ.

The formation is the responsibility of the whole community not just the Pastor, deacons, and catechists. Parents in particular, by their witness within the home, are the primary faith educators of the children.

Please click on the appropriate age group for detailed information about each program and to register.

The parish of St. Matthews warmly welcomes you to deepen your relationship with God through participation in our faith formation programs. For more information on any of our Faith Formation programs, please contact the Parish Office at, 770-964-5804

    • Family Faith Formation (Grades K-5)

At St. Matthew, we believe that "parents are the first and foremost educators of their children [who] educate or catechize informally, but powerfully by example and instruction" (National Catechetical Dictionary). For this reason our Family Faith Formation Program for Elementary students, is designed to be family-focused, using a thematic-activity approach, where groups of families will meet with a catechist to encounter the Lord together. Parents and their children fully participate in classes as a family.

      Class Time:
      • Sundays - 12:15pm-1:45pm

    EDGE (Grades 6-8)
    • EDGE (Grades 6-8)

EDGE provides a safe fun place for youth to find solid Catholic community, to get answers to their questions about faith, and, most importantly, to experience Jesus in a profound and personal way. EDGE resources speak to the physical, psychological, cognitive, relational, and spiritual maturation of middle school youth.

EDGE resources allow our Youth Ministers to plan out semesters of EDGE Nights and teachings based on Church approved resources and then presented as Catholic teaching in a way that young people can understand.

EDGE is a place for Middle School Teens to come together and engage in conversations about God, learn about life, and be a part of something bigger than themselves. Saint Matthew EDGE is designed specifically to reach out to our Middle School Youth where they can be lead closer to Christ.

EDGE meets in-person on Sundays from 12:15pm-1:45pm

      Registration Form

For more information about our EDGE program, please contact our office at 770-964-5804.

    LifeTeen (Grades 9-12)
    • LifeTeen (Grades 9-12)

LifeTeen is a movement within the Roman Catholic Church which leads teenagers and their families into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church.

The program is implemented as “relational ministries.” The relationship between the student and Christ is nurtured and encouraged. CORE Catechists strive to make a connection with teens through curriculum, faith sharing, listening, and engaging the teens in dynamic interactive sessions.

Students are encouraged to remain enrolled in LifeTeen throughout High School, even past Confirmation, as our faith formation never ends; rather, it is a lifelong journey.

The LifeTeen program will meet on Sundays from 12:15pm-1:45pm.

      Registration Form

For more information about the LifeTeen program, please contact our office at 770-964-5804.
